Photo and bio of David Beals, "president of the Union National Bank of Kansas City," establishing shoe stores in Saint Joseph, Colorado, Montana, Idaho, and Salt Lake City from 1859 to the 1870s after moving originally from Massachusetts, and then entering the cattle industry in Colorado and Texas before moving finally to Kansas City in 1884, establishing the Union National Bank in 1887 and investing in much local real estate including several Downtown buildings.

Description of his life and career as a native of Kentucky coming to Kansas City in 1878 as a hatter at 308 Delaware Street, with residence at 1109 McGee Street before co-founding "the Citizens' National Bank" at 6th and Delaware Streets in the 1880s.
