The Missouri River 340, a first time canoe/kayak race on the Missouri River between Kaw Point in Kansas City, Kansas and St. Charles started on Wednesday, August 2, 2006. There were 20 competitors (14 men and 6 women) on the 340 mile race down the river. Some had hardly any experience and some were more skilled in boating. Competitors came from as far away as Colorado, North Carolina, and Virginia.
