The photograph may have been taken at a January 18, 1896, masked ball held at Arlington Hall, which once stood on the northeast corner of 10th and Walnut streets. The Home Palladium was a mutual benefit society founded in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1891. The organization's focus was to provide disability and death insurance to its members.
